Havana, Sep 21 (EFE) .- The director of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba, the former dancer and choreographer Alicia Alonso, now called the U.S. president, Barack Obama, to travel to Cuba in October with his family to attend International Ballet Festival of Havana, which she chairs.
"I invite the President of the United States to come to Cuba Ballet Festival with his wife and daughters to see the beauty of art, love and life," said Alonso, in English, during a rally of intellectuals and artists to demand the release of five Cubans imprisoned in the United States for espionage.
Alicia Alonso also thanked a group of filmmakers and artists, including Oliver Stone, Michael Moore, Danny Glover, Susan Sarandon, Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn, Bonnie Raitt and Ry Cooder, who would join the initiative to send a letter to President Obama calling for the release of the Cubans.
"It's wonderful how this noble group of intellectual people have written that letter and had the courage to make it known and write to the U.S. president," said Alonso, who last June received a tribute from the ABT in New York by 90 years who will be in December.
