The 27th Havana International Trade Fair (FIHAV-2009) opened its doors on Monday to 2,500 businessmen from 54 countries and 1,230 companies, 652 of which were foreign ones.
At the opening ceremony, Cuban Exterior Commerce and Foreign Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca said Cuba intended to boost foreign investment to promote external trade.
"Cuba has every intention to open dialogue with its partners and will remain a credible market," Malmierca said.
Twenty-three official delegations and 49 delegations from the Chamber of Commerce and similar organizations attended the fair.
This year's fair will run until Nov. 7. Last year's fair saw the attendance of 3,400 businessmen and 1,420 companies from 56 countries.
